At Fìon we are delighted to announce the arrival of a new producer to our portfolio! And it's not other than the lady of natural wine in Utiel-Requena herself: Verónica Romero! Here, 80 kilometers west of Valencia, Romero's family has been growing vines and selling their grapes to the local cooperative. In 2019, she communicated to her family her desire to start crafting her own wines, selecting three hectares of vines, aged between 40 and 90 years old.

For Verónica, making wine in the most natural way possible was never in question. Her reds are always made with little extraction and with short maturations as she seeks elegance instead of power. Also, viticulture is her way of life, and she emphasizes the importance of being on top of things because it is only by working every day in the vineyard that she'll be able to express her terroir in the glass.

Duarte is a blend of 60% Bobal and 40% Tempranillo. Tempranillo undertakes semi-carbonic maceration, and it is left to ferment for 10 days before being pressed. Bobal is destemmed, crushed, and fermented in contact with the skins for 3 days. Then, it is pressed and fermentation ends in a stainless steel tank. Once the fermentations have finished, both varieties are assembled and aged in a stainless steel tank for 5 months. No sulfites were added. Loads of dark fruit (cherries, prunes, figs)  and savory spices (clove, licorice). A fresh and lively glass of red. You can chill it a wee bit too as it takes it perfectly.
