Ana & Pablo are the adorable couple behind Adega Soños do Desterro. They’re from Asturias but ended up in Ribeiro as they were looking for a place where they could contribute reviving the rural economy and viticultural traditions.Their philosophy is simple: to craft wines filled with honesty. The former translates into low intervention practices in order to bottle natural musts that went through different stages of skin maceration and that fermented naturally in vessels that won’t alter much the primal character of the varieties. Their cellar is located in Cuñas, a wee village within the council of Cenlle, right in Ribeiro’s historical heart. At the moment they’re facing their very early stages so they only produce two cuvées with grapes sourced from small plots that grow at different altitudes over, mainly, decomposed granite.

Bagos de Figueira is a blend of Treixadura, Albillo (probably Albillo Real, not the indigenous Albilla do Avia), and Loureira. A wine that spent 18 days on the skins. In fact they’ve separated them for a mere aesthetic reason (they didn’t want to craft an orange wine per se) so the wine looks like an old white in color (deep gold). Made entirely in stainless steel, this is quite a ‘gastro’ wine. It’s truly aromatic, highlighting confit citrics, juicy stone fruits, and herbal nuances such as thyme and gorse. The mouthfeel is outstanding. Glyceric, fatty, attractively bitter yet with a great integrated riverbank-like freshness.
