Antonio Marques is the fifth generation at Quinta da Serradinha, a family winery located in the town of Leiria, on the limestone slopes of Serra d ́Aire, north of Lisboa. Nowadays Antonio is one of the leaders in Portugal when it comes to producing wine as naturally as possible in both the vineyard and the winery. Antonio owns a total of 6,5 hectares of vineyards which hold the Organic Certification since 1994, being the first winery ever on being certified organic in the whole Portugal.
Serradinha Branco is a white blend of the local Arinto (65%) and Fernão Pires (35%). Vines were planted in 1995. Once harvested, the grapes are de-stemmed into an open tank where they’re left to macerate for four days. Followed by a soft pressing they’re left in small old barrels where the fermentation starts with indigenous yeast and no control of the temperature. Aged in the same barrel with its lees for 11 months. Production of 2700 bottles.
