Callejuela, was (currently closed) a family winery located in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, with two brothers running it who represented the third generation of vinegrowers. Their father Francisco Blanco founded the small winery in 1980 just with two old barrels. They were Almacenistas making base wine from their own Palomino vineyards that they sold to the local bodegas of Sanlúcar, until the brothers decided to start bottling their own wines. The Blanco family philosophy has always been to carefully orchestrate a later harvest, as this enables them to pick grapes with higher ABV, needing a fewer % of alcohol when fortifying their sherries. 
 
This Pago Callejuela is a river-side pago of Sanlúcar, close to the Guadalquivir, with the typical albariza soils of the area. This 2015 is an aged fortified wine matured in casks outside the dynamic solera and criadera system, meaning it has undergone static ageing under veil of flor from the very beginning of its ageing process. Each cask and each vineyard site has developed and evolved in its own way, resulting in distinctive and unique wines. In this case, Callejuela can be classified as a “Una Palma”.
