Alvar de Dios. A name for you to remember as he is one of the upcoming young talents within the Spanish viticulture scene, being his wines some of the most sought-after ones by Spanish sommeliers at the moment. He started his winemaking career in solitary back in 2008 by recovering one old abandoned vineyard, a heritage of his grandfather, after his experience working as a cellar master at the iconic winery Comando G.
Las Vidres is a cuvée made of 90 years old Doña Blanca sourced from a single vineyard in Villadepera (0.7 hectares). It is located in northern Spain, very close to the border with Portugal, grown over volcanic soils, a really poor site so the vine roots have to go deeply underneath to get more mineral inputs.
Fermented and aged 12 months in used French oak. Showing intense freshness and minerality, sustained by a wide and creamy mouthfeel. The finish is very elegant and pleasant.
