Joaฬo Caฬlem Hoelzer has been working in the Port wine trade for 30 years. Apart from some years studying and working abroad he had always been at the Quinta. It is in 1990s when he started running the winery.
๐ค๐๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฎ ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐๐ฒ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฎ is located near Pinhaฬo in the heart of Douro (Cima Corgo). Dating back for five generations, the winery produces its wine in the traditional way: foot trod in stone โlagaresโ.
The State covers 30 hectares of land that includes vineyards, olive trees, and other Mediterranean flora. Vineyards make up for a total of 16 hectares altogether. The majority of the vineyards are about 30 years old with 10% of the total which are over 70 years old, producing very low yields. Joaฬo selects the best grape varieties of the estate to display their maximum expression in this Reserva, of which he does a very tiny production each vintage.
