Markos is the third generation of a family of viticulturists and winemakers at Markovitis Winery, formerly Chateau Pegasus, and the first producer in Greece to practice organics. Based in Naoussa, a region in the north of Greece, near Thessaloniki, famous for making Nebbiolo-style wines that can be just as age-worthy, using the local grape Xinomavro.
In fact, Xinomavro is the only wine made in this iconic winery, made with 100% destemmed fruit and aged in old oak barrels. What to expect? A medium-bodied red with structured tannins that's actually super pale in color! Plums, sour cherries, roses, dried herbs, leather, and scorched earth nuances dominate its bouquet, giving us a very seductive grape to fall in love with!
