Borja Perez is one of the youngest talents in the Spanish winemaking scene. Representing the 4th generation of a winemaking family in Tenerife, despite his studies as an Agricultural Technical Engineer, and a career as a rally mechanic as well. After taking over the family winery and with the intention of helping to preserve parcels of old vineyards, Borja started to buy grapes from local winegrowers to make what would become the equivalent of "Village Wines", thus the Artífice range was born.
Vidueños is a wine made from Albillo, Gual, Marmajuelo, and Listán Blanco from different vines in different parts of the region. Harvest is performed by hand and in different stages, depending on ripeness. Once the harvest arrives at the winery, it is left to ferment in 500-litre French oak barrels. Aging takes place in 20-hectolitre foudres for 8 and a half months, in contact with its fine lees.
This is a dense, contoured, and cushioned yet it is underpinned by a core of bracing, super-saline acidity that meets an ashy, rocky almost earthy minerality. Perfumed nose, with aromas of white flowers, roses, and stone fruits, with a volcanic and flinty background. One of the best whites in the area.
