Bodegas Peixes is the new project of the 2 guys of Fedellos do Couto, Jesús and Curro, outside D.O. Ribeira Sacra, right in the Ourense massif, with vineyards that are exposed to the cold right to the limit where the grapes can have a good ripening. The wines produced by Bodegas Peixes are made in a small winery in Seadur. They have 5 hectares of vineyards located in Viana do Bollo, between Valdeorras and Ribeira Sacra. Here, soils are granitic and with shales. They directly cultivate 3 hectares, without using chemical products, with minimum intervention and maximum respect. In the other 2 hectares, they oversee the work of the winegrowers. The result: wines of great elegance and freshness.


Here they tend several small plots of 60-80-year-old vines planted to a wide range of varieties indigenous to this part of Galicia at 800m of altitude. About a third is Mencía, another third is made up of  Mourantón, Grao Negro, and Garnacha Tintorera with the remainder Bastardo, Godello, Doña Blanca, Palomino, and Colgadeira. The wine undergoes whole cluster and spontaneous fermentation in vat, where the gentle maceration lasts two months. After, the wine spent 12 months in a 3000L foudre and neutral 500L French oak demi-muids.
