Alvar de Dios. A name for you to remember as he is one of the upcoming young talents within the Spanish viticulture scene, being his wines some of the most sought-after ones by Spanish sommeliers at the moment. He started his winemaking career in solitary back in 2008 by recovering one old abandoned vineyard, a heritage of his grandfather, after his experience working as a cellar master at the iconic winery Comando G.
In 2009 Alvar purchased Vagüera, a tiny half-hectare plot of abandoned vines at an elevation of 950m. This vineyard, planted in 1921, is a bewildering co-plantation of several white varieties growing in rocky red clay soil over limestone, and surrounded by a cork forest. He selects only the Doña Blanca for this label. Slight creamy notes of barrel aging (fermented and aged for 12 months in foudre), a serious Burgundian feel on the palate. 2000 bottles were made in 2020.
