Podere San Biagio is an agricultural reality. Their story began in the 80s, being one of the first ones to reintroduce, after years of abandonment, the cultivation of ancient cereals embracing since the dawn of time natural and sustainable agriculture. Their first vineyard was planted only a few years later, starting as a true "garage wine" as they didn't have a cellar back then. Since 2014, Jacopo, now in his thirties, returned home and focused on his vineyards and the refinement of cellar practices, to improve the general quality through a natural approach.
Migrante is a 100% Pecorino. 2 days maceration with the skins. Initially, it starts fermenting on its skins for a couple of days, to then be aged in steel and bottled the following spring. Migrante is a wine with a beautiful personality that shows more concentration and depth of fruit (flat peaches, honeysuckle, apricots) than the one found on the nose (green apples, seabuckthorn). It's a wine that runs away from the overly waxy, fatty, and alcoholic Pecorinos done in the area.
Cafone is a 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Mature harvest but not beyond. Spontaneous fermentation and maceration in contact with the skins for 10 days in steel tanks. Later refinement in the same tanks. Thus, Cafone is the most docile and drinkable version of Montepulciano crafted by Jacopo. Despite it can be drunk a bit cooler, it's not your stereotypical glu-glu as there is a nice concentration of fruit and texture, all wrapped up with nuances of iron and blood.
