Humus Branco is a natural white wine made by Encosta da Quinta using the local Arinto and Fernão Pires. Encosta da Quinta is a family winery run by Rodrigo Felipe who dedicates his life to the estate that his grandfather acquired in 1960 in Caldas da Raina, a few kilometers from Lisbon. He is a self-taught winegrower who started the Humus project to connect with nature and the terroir in a way that allows him to bottle very personal wines.
Humus Branco comes from vineyards lying on steep slopes and planted over clay and limestone soils that are surrounded by a eucalyptus forest, which protects the vineyard from the Atlantic climate.
Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast in 225L old oak barrels where it is left to age for 9 months. Its full-on palate is judiciously buttery and waxy, filled with herbaceous and citric nuances, and preserving a good Atlantic nerve.
