Rodrigo Méndez is one of the most influential producers in the Rías Baixas, where he was able to find and secure the use of ancient plantations, some of which were long-abandoned, and bring them back to life.The idea with the Bodegas Viñedos Rodrigo Méndez project was for Rodrigo to make wines that focus on the village of Meaño where Rodrigo was born, in the heart of Salnés valley of Rías Baixas.
 
This wine is made of Espadeiro, a nearly extinct local variety that is being recovered. It is produced with grapes from hundred-year-old vineyards, following a traditional winemaking process. After that, this wine undergoes 12-month ageing in used French oak barrels. Very limited production: only one barrel.
 
According to Rodrigo himself, 2018 was a spectacular vintage and the wine is now in such a sweet spot to be consumed.
