Celler Vendrell i Rived is a family-owned winery founded in 2000, headed up by a husband and wife team: Josep Maria Vendrell and Núria Barceló. The family vineyards are located in the little village of Marçà within the D.O. Montsant, in southwestern Catalonia (North-eastern Spain).

The grapes, Grenache and Carignan, are sourced from the family’s oldest vineyards, planted by their ancestors. Josep controls the vineyards every day to understand the needs of every single vine. Josep Maria and Núria are working towards leaving a better legacy for their three children, focusing on achieving high-quality wines loaded with personality and self-expression.

L'Alleu comes from two different plots: l’Abella filled with old Carinyena vines (30%) and Tros del Coix with old Garnatxa vines (70%). The average age of vines is 50 to 80 years old. Josep started his project with this wine, as L’Alleu refers to the country estate where the wine cellar was built. For its production, each varietal is vinified separately. The grapes are fermented and macerated for a period of 20-30 days. After this process, L'Alleu is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. Concentrated and powerful yet harmonious and elegant red.
